The Night of the Garter
My favorite Stepford Wife asked my thoughts on the garter. The garter’s function and purpose isn’t clear to me at all.

During my teen years when males often acquire lifelong fixations I didn’t give any thought and barely had an idea about what girls were wearing under their clothes. The only clothing fetish I acquired was a mild taste for boys wearing high-top sneakers, preferably Keds, preferably white. (I tried to buy a pair - black - a few years ago but Keds doesn’t make them large enough.)
With Alex I acquired a more developed taste for women’s attire; take conscious pleasure in what some wear. But female lingerie mostly escapes me.

Panties. This is the archetypal garment isn’t it? It has powers and associations that utterly fuddle men’s minds. The first (and only) time I slipped my hands in a boy’s pants and encountered them I was startled but thought it cute. Panties are okay as long as they don’t have any excesses like bows or lace.
Bras. I’d own this the most interesting item of lingerie. They provide much smoke and mirrors in the presentation of the female chest. The chief charm is in the art of concealment. Bra sizing is confusing and the actual architectonics depend on what the wearer actually needs. Thankfully the bras that made women look like they were hefting twin mortar shells are things of the past.
Stockings. I bought Alex a bunch and liked them all. The girlish whites, the pairs with the black seam running up the back suggesting 1950s sinful steaminess and - of course - fishnets.
But when you get to undergarments like girdles and garter belts I’m pure homo. They make me shudder. But men with thick beards have been known to have similar effect and make me feel 100% hetero. I can be only so inclusive.
Having written this I’ll probably start having fantasies about garters next week.

Comments
Many of us blessed with female thighs find garter belts a necessity if we wish to wear stockings; they roll their way right down my legs without them.
The garter belt I wear most often is it-doesn’t-get-more-functional - it’s simply a strip of elastic with four straps and the appropriate findings. Designed by Sue Blane for the Rocky Horrorr Picture Show.
It’s difficult to find these so I gave up and made my own.
