VoIP: Gmail Talk Beats Yahoo! Messenger

I’d never done an internet telephone call before.

When Yahoo! Messenger added voice calls Alex said we could use it to talk while he’s away. So I bought a headset.

Today we finally got around to it.

Yahoo! VoIP was pretty choppy. Alex sounded like herself. From what she said I sounded like something out of David Seville’s Alvin and the Chipmunks.

We decided to give Google Talk’s VoIP a try.

Alex wasn’t choppy, I didn’t sound as if I’d been castrated.

My inexpensive Plantronics headset performed flawlessly, just plugged it in, no adjustment needed.

So if you are having quality problems with Yahoo! Messenger calls give Google Talk a try.
